<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><em>Surprising King&#8217;s Cake</em></h3>



<p>On January 6th, many countries celebrated the Epiphany. Even though many of us have forgotten the religious reasons for commemoration, we continue the important culinary tradition with a &#8216;3 king&#8217;s cake&#8217;. We call it&nbsp;<em>galette des rois</em>&nbsp;in French. It&#8217;s a double pastry cake with a yummy almond filling. What&#8217;s most important is the&nbsp;<em>fève</em>, a little lucky charm that is placed inside it. If you get it, you are the king or queen of the day and even get a paper crown! An old fable tells that parents, generation after generation, share the gift of sensing where the&nbsp;<em>fève</em>&nbsp;is and that it will always fall on their children. And that it would multiply according to the number of children!&nbsp;<strong>Have you noticed it too?</strong></p>

<p>We start the year with the&nbsp;<strong>Restless&nbsp;</strong>Saboteurs. Perfect with all this new things you want to try out this year! The Restless is constantly searching greater excitement in the next activity. It can also be a way to escape from dealing with problems and fears&#8230; A great friend to have around with a contagious enthusiasm and lots of energy! But the cost is a&nbsp;growing hidden anxiety, feeling of uncompletedness&nbsp;and chaos.</p>



<p><br><strong>Challenge of the month:</strong>&nbsp;When you&#8217;re feeling restless, stop and breathe,<strong>&nbsp;focus on physical sensations</strong>&nbsp;(visual, audio, taste, smell, touch)<strong>.&nbsp;</strong>Realize that it&#8217;s a strategy to distract you from a pain.&nbsp;</p>



<p><strong>Avoid multitasking and finish up what you&#8217;ve started.&nbsp;</strong></p>



<p>It&#8217;s, in the end, more efficient and will bring you a clearer mind.</p>

<p>Now that you know what you want for the new year, let&#8217;s have a look how you can help yourself actually achieve your goals.<br><strong>&#8220;A goal without a deadline is just a dream&#8221;&#8230;</strong><br>Time to make your dreams clear and reachable. The most famous method is to create &#8220;SMART goals&#8221;.<br><strong>S</strong> for specific: bring details to&nbsp;the definition; </p>



<p><strong>M</strong> for measurable: define progress indicators; </p>



<p><strong>A</strong>chievable: make&nbsp;it exciting but attainable; </p>



<p><strong>R</strong>elevant: so that is motivating and aligned with your&nbsp;<em>why</em>; </p>



<p><strong>T</strong>ime-bound: give a concrete deadline of achievement. For example, &#8220;lose weight this year&#8221; becomes &#8220;train at the gym twice a week and stop eating snacks&nbsp;so I can lose 3&nbsp;kg before&nbsp;my&nbsp;beach holidays&nbsp;on August 1st&#8221;. </p>

<p>Do you ever feel frustrated or hurt when someone tells you something you disagree with? Do you sometimes get disappointed by the feedback you receive (or the lack of it)? Often people pleasers give a lot with great generosity, and tend to expect the same feedback. Detaching from ego can help free ourselves from the autogenerated self-doubt. People can actually be upset for other reasons than us. How would it be if you would react to the situation without blaming yourself?<strong>&nbsp;What would be different then?</strong></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><em>Farewell Her Majesty</em> <em>The Queen</em></h3>



<p>On top of the many political topics happening around the world lately, we have been deeply affected by the loss of Her Majesty The Queen on September 8th. It marked the end of a 70-year reign.&nbsp;Her reign spanned 15 prime ministers starting with Winston Churchill, born in 1874, and including Ms Truss, born 101 years later in 1975. It is beautiful to witness human beings sharing compassion and support, even without feeling the same degree of emotion or commemoration.&nbsp;<br><em><sub>Photo from history.com</sub></em></p>

<p>Many of us were happy to welcome some rain in September. However, when the rainy days are long it feel like it will never stop. In life, it&#8217;s natural that some days seem grayer and sadder than others. It&#8217;s also ok to feel a bit more down. It matters most is to be conscious of what is happening in our bodies, energy and mood, as well as in our thoughts. What physical sensations am I feeling right now?&nbsp;<strong>What are my recurring thoughts?&nbsp;</strong>And overall, we must remember that in every cloud, there is a silver lining.</p>

<p>This month, we meet the&nbsp;<strong>HYPER-ACHIEVER</strong>. This saboteur is quite common, when we&#8217;ve been overly challenged by our parents or peers to succeed at school, at work and in life. The Hyper-Achiever makes us&nbsp;measure our self-worth through our achievements. There should be no peace or happiness until the next success, and the next, and the next&#8230;&nbsp;so we can lose touch on what really matters.<br><strong>Challenge of the month:</strong>&nbsp;Realize when your happiness depends on your achievements, when your Saboteur says &#8220;You&#8217;ll be happy when&#8230;&#8221;. Reflect on the impact of depending on others&#8217; approval. List what topics are causing you the most stress. How can you do them&nbsp;with passion and commitment, but no matter the outcomes?&nbsp;<strong>What would be different ?</strong></p>

<p>What do you do when you&#8217;re deeply exhausted, stressed or about to burnout? We often tend to say: &#8220;I&nbsp;<em>need&nbsp;</em>to do this&#8221;, &#8220;I&nbsp;<em>shouldn&#8217;t&nbsp;</em>do that&#8221;&#8230; This actually creates more pressure and drains even more of your little energy. The key is to quit pushing and blaming yourself. Instead, slow down and rest. To rebuild your resilience, the first step is to get enough sleep. Taking care of your physical health also supports your mental health. With more mental space, you&#8217;ll slowly move into what you want.&nbsp;<strong>How much are you sleeping lately?</strong></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><em>Happy Birthday Switzerland!</em></h3>



<p>The Swiss National Day is proudly celebrated on August 1st. The date refers to a historic alliance concluded in 1291 by the three cantons of Uri, Schwyz and Unterwalden. It resulted in the founding of the Swiss Confederation. We can wish Switzerland a Happy 731st Birthday! This day became a public holiday throughout Switzerland in 1993, after it was voted by referendum. The locals enjoy political speeches, bonfires, fireworks, but most importantly, lots of food, drinks and music in a festive atmosphere.</p>

<p>On August 11th, we could observe the last Super-Full-Moon of 2022. A Supermoon happens when the Moon is at its closest to Earth. This time, the Moon was only 360&#8217;000 km away! It can also appear up to 13% bigger and 30% brighter. <p>This month, let&#8217;s meet&nbsp;the&nbsp;<strong>CONTROLLER</strong>. This saboteur has a powerful energy and can get things done. But it&#8217;s an anxiety-based need to take charge and control situations. It makes you believe that you&#8217;re either in control or out of control, and that you&#8217;re doing others a favor by controlling everything. Even if you can get results this way, you usually end up&nbsp;feeling impatient, angry, resentful and even rejected.<br><strong>Challenge of the month:</strong>&nbsp;Realize when you get impatient at others, or when you push&nbsp;to get things done your own way. Thank your Controller for wanting things to progress and ask him to come back later. From a place of compassion and curiosity, ask yourself how others could feel in the moment and what really matters most.&nbsp;<strong>What could you do differently?</strong></p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hi everyone! How is your “new normal” going? Too stressed? Too bored? Both at the same time? Classic! I am happy to share with you today some tips if you feel too overwhelmed or too apathetic and how to find back some balance in your daily life!</p>
<p>We could easily believe that staying at home is synonym of full-time well-being and relaxation; …a dream coming true! But why isn’t it really the case then?!</p>
<p>When chatting with your family, friends, or colleagues, have you noticed that we all have different ways to experience the situation?</p>
<p>Some people might feel extremely exhausted and under the water. They have too much to do, juggling between work, children, house care, cooking and trying to appear a minimum sociable! For others, it is the opposite. They feel completely bored out, not that they have nothing to do, but rather that they are completely demotivated, leaving them with no energy to have anything done.</p>
<p>Obviously, we are all unique, so we will all react differently to this new structure, in different ways and in different intensities. Both extreme situations are generating a lot of frustration, dissatisfaction, stress or worry. It is a real challenge to keep a healthy peace of mind in these conditions!</p>
<h3><span style="color: #358e9d;">But, why is that? What is happening behind the scenes?</span></h3>
<p>The abrupt outbreak forced us to face a drastic and sudden change, for which we were totally unprepared. This created an imbalance on 3 aspects of our life: <strong>physical, mental, and emotional.</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Physically, we are experiencing an important lack of movements. This can generate additional stress, as some frustration is not released by exercise, even just walking. And the less you exercise, the less you want to exercise!</li>
<li>Then, we are mentally disturbed by the lack of diversity in our daily activities. Routine is great, but not every day, right?! To top that, we have no clue about what the future will look like. This opens the door to our brain towards negative patterns and mental projections, which can lead to depression or anxiety.</li>
<li>Finally, emotionally, we are facing a total chaos! Losing the face to face contact with our loved ones is one thing, but when mixed with the worries caused by a strong sense of insecurity, it can be very painful to handle.</li>
</ul>
<p>On the positive side, this crisis is making us stronger and allows us to make greater progress. It enables us to be even more resilient once the situation improves.</p>

<h3><span style="color: #358e9d;">Now, how can we make <em>today </em>more pleasant?</span></h3>
<p>It is proven that a little stress is beneficial, as a positive challenge to make you do things. With too little stress, we lose motivation to do any efforts. And conversely, above a certain level, too much stress can be very damaging; psychologically and physically.</p>
<p>To find balance and increase your motivation and therefore your performance, keep in mind to adjust your level of stress, right in the middle. Allow yourself some time to <strong>relax and recharge your batteries</strong>, after intense physical or mental activities.</p>
<p>If you want to feel better, bear in mind these 3 aspects – physical, mental, and emotional – and search for balance between them. I share with you some exercises, on each of these aspects, which you can include in your daily routine to feel more at peace.</p>
<h3><span style="color: #e6c229;"><strong><u>1. PHYSICAL:</u></strong> </span>Probably the easiest to figure out</h3>
<p>A little bit of exercise every day can go a long way! No need to set too high expectations for yourself.</p>
<ul>
<li>If you are very stressed, you can just do a few arms and back stretches and some shoulders and neck relaxation movements. Try to stretch your whole body to the maximum by taking as much space as possible, and then release everything. Repeat as much as you want!</li>
<li>On the other hand, if you feel too sluggish, you can try to do 10-15 minutes of abs and core exercises, like planks for example. How long can you hold today? Or just go for a dynamic walk. It will boost you up!</li>
</ul>
<h3><span style="color: #ffbc00;"><span style="color: #e6c229;"><strong><u>2. MENTAL:</u></strong></span> </span>Now we want to align with the mind and slow down the process of thoughts.</h3>
<p>As we discussed before, your brain has a terrible tendency to get mixed up between reality and mental projections. Most of the time, it loops around negative thoughts which puts us in a bad mood. But we can turn it around and use this to our advantage to find balance!</p>
<p>Try to picture positive thoughts and empowering beliefs. Put your mind in a positive mindset around a nice outcome of the crisis, for example: a family barbecue, vacations at the beach, laughing with your friends, etc. Working on your subconscious will have a positive impact on your conscious mind with time and practice!</p>
<ul>
<li>If you are particularly stressed, take a few minutes to think about some place you really like. Imagine yourself being there, all happy, content and completely relaxed. It should bring up your inner smile naturally. How do you feel?</li>
<li>To get out of boredom, start visualizing yourself doing or achieving something you particularly enjoy, something that challenges you in a fun and exciting way. What is that thing? Who is with you? Maybe something to look forward to!</li>
</ul>
<h3><span style="color: #e6c229;"><strong><u>3. EMOTIONAL:</u></strong></span> Finally, we bring full balance by managing our emotions, our spirit.</h3>
<p>The easiest way to manage your emotions and reactions is through small breathing exercises. It helps bringing you back to the present moment, either to calm your rhythm or shake things up a bit.</p>
<ul>
<li>If you feel particularly tense, spend a few minutes noticing and following your breath, and particularly your outward breath. You can place your hands on your belly if it is easier to feel your breath. Try to have the longest cycles as possible. How long can you make them? Another exercise you can try is the &#8220;4-7-8 technique&#8221;. Breathe in in 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds, breathe out in 8 seconds. It is known to help deeply relax and even fall asleep.</li>
<li>If you feel too apathetic, try the opposite types of breathing exercises. Fast and short breaths for few minutes will help pump your blood faster and let the energy flow again. Try to do 30 to 50 inhalations and exhalations in 1 minute and see how you feel! What differences can you notice?</li>
</ul>
<p>I hope these insights will enable you to bring a little bit more <strong>balance, inner-peace, joy, and happiness </strong>in your day to day life! <p>Today represents the biggest milestone in my new life towards happiness and the achievement of my goals. Today and for the first time ever, I feel confident enough to dare sharing with you more about me and my journey. It is pretty scary, but also quite fulfilling.</p>



<p>Today, I find myself ticking many boxes of my looked-for success and overcome challenges. To do so, I also had to tick the boxes EFFORTS, COMMITMENT and PERSEVERANCE. One year ago, I was at the lowest point of my life, not able to go to work, struggling physically and mentally. One year ago, I was in the middle of a tsunami, lost, confused, and flooded.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Today, I know where my life is headed, and that is because I decided on it! </h3>



<p>I am now constructing it everyday, bit by bit, focusing on what makes me grow and thrive.</p>



<p>One year ago, I was suffering everyday from severe digestive pain and couldn’t look at myself in the mirror. I was too exhausted to do any activity. Today, I understand and follow the needs of my body, have barely anymore pain and lost the extra 5 kg I had gained. Today, I enjoy practicing yoga everyday and discovering some abandoned muscles!</p>



<p>One year ago, I could not comprehend or control my emotions and my anxiety. Today, I completed my 500th daily meditation, and that with a big smile, on my face and in my heart. Today, I focus on the positive side of life, accept the difficult moments as they are and enjoy all the little things.</p>



<p>One year ago, I could not have imagined doing another job or even changing path. I was petrified to the idea of losing everything I had built so far, to follow a strangle tingling feeling I had deep down inside. One month ago, I took the plunge into my new life by becoming a life and career coach. Today, I am amazed to be welcoming my second client for personal and professional development. Today, I am more than excited to wake up and work on my project, increase my knowledge and share insights around me. </p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Could it be that I found my IKIGAI, my reason for being?</h3>



<p>Today, I have signed a contract agreement for an interesting side job in virtual learning. This will help me finance my coaching school and the development of my coaching business. One year ago, I would not have conceived accepting a part-time job, less senior or less reputable. One year ago, my full-time job was to take care of myself and my health. Today, my main job is to build my project and provide support to as many people as possible.</p>



<p>One year ago, I had no idea that appropriate surroundings could have a such positive impact on one’s well-being. I could not really believe that it is possible to actually build the best life you would wish for. Today, I finished unpacking my boxes into my new apartment in Basel, after having defied many Corona-crisis obstacles. </p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Today and everyday, I am incredibly lucky to have the most supportive partner in my life,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/evangelos-ninnis/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Evangelos</a>. </h3>



<p>Six months ago, I started working with Dorota, my career coach, as a unique opportunity to help me figure out a concrete plan. It could not have been more useful! Thanks to the coaching, I regained confidence in myself, in my plan and today, this plan is on good track. One year ago, I was scared to share with my family my potential idea for a new life. Today, they understand and support me 200% and counting. I am also deeply grateful for my friends who have been there for me, sharing nice messages, pictures, and funny Gifs to keep me going!</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#e6c229" class="has-inline-color">An immense THANK YOU to all of you who support me!</mark></h2>



<p>Today, I have accepted a substantial purchase offer for my apartment in Amsterdam and now I am crossing all my fingers and toes for the rest of the process to go well! One year ago, as part of getting back on track, I finally found the courage to start a many-month-long renovation project, with the objective to make it a nice place to sell. Today, I am particularly proud to have gone through with it.</p>



<p>Today, I am so overwhelmed and excited to be on the right track to achieve many of my goals. Nonetheless, I keep in mind my ultimate objective, my life purpose: empower people to unlock and cultivate their potential towards a happier life. This is how I want to help you!</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">I know you can, I did it. </h3>



<p>It is a journey, it is hard work, but it is possible. Luckily, it becomes easier and more natural once you find your true purpose and start focusing intentionally on what you love and what matters to you. I deeply believe that you can find harmony and contentment too, and I can guide you to it.</p>



<p>I am certain that you achieved a lot as well in the last year, and even in these last difficult months. Take a moment to be proud of yourself. You deserve it!</p>



<p>Do not hesitate to share with me your worries, struggles and most importantly your dreams. Together we can find the way to light up the darkness!&nbsp;</p>
